Footnote: The 224th Infantry Battalion was raised in Eastern Ontario on July 15, 1916, under the authority of G. O. 69, with its mobilization headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario. The battalion sailed for England on May 19, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant Colonel A. McDougall, with a strength of
