Henry De Groux (1866-1930): maître de la démesure. Occident partly unpublishedHenry de Groux was born in Brussels in 1866 and died in Marseille in 1930. The son of the realist painter Charles Degroux, Henry was devastated by his father's premature death and benefited from the protection of his elder brother, Flicien Rops. A draftsman, painter, sculptor, illustrator, and writer, he worked alongside Degouve de Nuncques, Ensor, Bloy, Mallarm, Zola, and many others. Known for causing a scandal at an exhibition of the avant garde
