Constructed of zink, the obverse consists of an oval oak leaf wreath, topped by a Kriegsmarine style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with a central frontal battleship cutting through waves, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Orth, Wien, measuring 44. 06 mm (w) x 57. 47 mm (h), weighing 24. 0 grams, evidence of period repair
