It was previously known as Nepenthes hurrelliana but recent research has found it to be heterotropic synonym to the original name mollis (so the name mollis sticks)

The parents were gigantic Nepenthes truncata and maxima that were open pollinated

The emerging leaves have red hues and the pitchers have varying colors and spots. We expect them to develop strong waists and domed lids like clipeata as they mature.
