Japan, Empire. A Yellow Ribbon Merit Medal, c.1887 Hold Paul’s ChurchIn silver, presenting a cannon on the obverse, with two Japanese characters. The reverse bearing six Japanese characters. The medal is on its original period yellow ribbon with a hook and eye. It measures at 30mm in diameter and weighs 15. 3 grams (including ribbon). In extremely fine condition. Footnote: This medal was conferred upon Japanese individuals in recognition of contributions to the Coastal Defence Fund of 1887. The obverse Japanese
